The Hwang Woo-Suk scandal in 2004 led to the great dispute in the field of bioethics. But this hot social issue is already over the ethical discussion. Because there are the ontological elements in this theme. The stem cell research is a byproduct of the enlightenment that has dominated the western world since 18th century. In the age of enlightenment reason was advocated as the primary source and legitimacy for authority. Since then the human being is isolating from himself. Accordingly this trend is expressed in the quantification of being. This study analyzed the ontological meaning of this social issue. And the results showed that now is the time, the new world-view or the new understanding of god over the enlightenment.
